“Hi, I’m Meredith…I don’t know when to stop.”

Ever since I was a little girl, I made things. Never satisfied with a single medium or focus, I’ve spent my life throwing my creative mind into anything that peeked my interest. Thus the joke my father and I share *holds hand out to shake* “Hi, I’m Meredith…I don’t know when to stop”. I found a deep love in painting, earning a bachelors degree in Fine Arts with a focus in painting. During my study at the University of Louisville I also studied sculpting, drawing, and wheel throwing. My grandmother taught me to sew quilts by hand. My mother taught me to sew my own clothes. After moving to Chicago, I taught myself to make jewelry out of metal, clay, wood, and stones. I’ve painted murals, made purses, crocheted hats and sweaters… but I do not knit. I’ve found many mediums I do not enjoy, but many more that I do.

My focus these days is on sewing, jewelry making, and woodworking. For nearly 10 years I operated and sold jewelry under the name La Petite Pearls. But as my creative focus shifted, the name no longer suited me, thus Meredith Makes is born.

When I am introduced, the phrase “Meredith makes …” is used more often than not. That is what I do, I make.

I currently live and work in Lousiville, Kentucky, with my husband, 2 sons, a dog and a cat.

About the Photographer

EC Carver Photography (you may have noticed the name on the item pages) is the creative child of Elizabeth Carver. She and I met in college while I was studying art and she was studying nursing. We became close in the years after we graduated, as she began studying photography. Liz focuses primarily on family photography, capturing families in an intimate and beautiful way. She also captures big life events like weddings, pregnancies, and births (my own included).

Liz is without a doubt one of the most wonderful people, and best photographers I know. Without her support, both creative and otherwise, I would not be where I am today… thanks, bestie.

Liz resides in Goshen, Kentucky with her husband, two children, a dog, and a cat… and whatever critter her daughter has found outside today.
